Youth Council

A standing Youth Council is a requirement of the Workforce Investment Act and critical component of the Workforce Investment Board. The Youth Council members is responsible for coordinating youth activities within the Tulsa Workforce Area; Developing portions of the local plan related to youth. The Youth Council recommends eligible youth providers, conducts oversight of youth program providers and of youth activities. The Youth Council establishes linkages with educational agencies and older youth entities and provides the framework for developing comprehensive and effective strategies that ensure youth acquire the education, skill, work experience, and support they will need to reach their full potential and successfully transition to adulthood. The mandated partners of the Youth Council bring together a diverse set of stakeholders and resources to accomplish this mission. The Youth Council may carry out any additional duties assigned to it by the Board and/or the Chair of the TAWIB.
