Self-Sufficiency Report

New Report on Income Needs of Oklahomans:

A groundbreaking new report published by the Community Action Project of Tulsa County in conjunction with Wider Opportunities for Women and the University of Washington reveals the amount of income families need to meet their basic needs. The Self-Sufficiency Standard for Oklahoma provides county-specific data on the actual cost of families' basic needs for families of different sizes and types in each of Oklahoma's 77 counties. The Standard is shown to be well above the federal poverty level and above minimum wage income across the State. The Report also reveals the effect that public and private income supports can have on altering income needs, and identifies strategies that Oklahoma policymakers, employers, community groups and individuals can pursue to help low-income families move toward self-sufficiency.
