Labor Market Study of Northeastern Oklahoma

In 2002 the Tulsa Workforce Investment Board, in partnership with the Tulsa Metro Chamber and the City of Tulsa, joined forces to create the most comprehensive workforce development survey ever undertaken in the Tulsa MSA.

Sponsored by the Tulsa Workforce Investment Board and the Tulsa Metro Chamber, the survey was funded in part by the City of Tulsa, AEP-Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Community College and The Boeing Company.

The Wadley-Donovan Group, a consulting firm specializing in corporate location, began compiling information in March 2002 in order to create a true geographic information system. The following are four main components to the creation of the Regional Labor Market Study:

• Gathered economic data on a 10-county labor market study and the aggregation of secondary data.
• Determined labor requirements through a survey of employers with 10 plus employees.
• Identified the labor market supply by a thorough survey of households.
• Inventory the array of education, training and workforce development assets.

The results of this study enable the region to plan and most effectively use the current workforce, while also taking into consideration the available education and training system resources.
